HISTORIC
BUILDINGS
Weston
Allison Wright Ltd. has worked on some of the most important historic
buildings in England.
The
practice is involved in work to a wide range of building types from
scheduled ruins to complete and occupied structures. Each type raises
its own particular issues and requires a carefully developed and
individual approach to its conservation. In recent years we have
worked at Audley End House in Essex, at Dover Castle, at Bolsover
Castle and Hardwick Hall in Derbyshire and at Wrest Park (a Grade
I listed mansion) in Bedfordshire.
The
practice offers advice on the sensitive conservation of historic
structures. This includes agreeing the appropriate degree of repair
to ensure that the historic fabric is not compromised whilst at
the same time satisfying the client's overall brief. This can often
be challenging and the specification of the correct techniques and
materials and an understanding of the application and impact of
modern legislation on historic buildings is of crucial importance.
We are able to offer balanced advice and we are skilled at assessing
client's requirements and proposing appropriate solutions.
In
addition to conservation advice, we have developed specific expertise
in the risk assessment of historic structures and in the application
of current health and safety legislation on conservation projects.
